Chess for iPhone Duo.
ScrollChess is built for iPhone Duo from version 1.1. Fold the phone like a laptop and the board lies flat on the table while the move list stands behind it. Open it like a book and the board and the moves sit side by side. The board never crosses the fold.

Folded: the board on the lower half, the moves on the upper.

Open flat between two players, Across the table.
What it does on the Duo
- Folded like a laptop. The half on the table holds the board, so you tap pieces on a flat surface. The half standing up shows the moves.
- Opened like a book. Board on one side, moves on the other.
- Opened flat for two. All three pass-and-play modes work, including Across the table, where the pieces turn to face whoever is to move.
- Against the engine. Four levels, written for this app. The weak ones play like a weaker person rather than like a strong engine with random blunders.
The rest stays the same
$6.99 once, or €7.99 in the euro area, with no subscription, no ads and no account. Everything runs on the device, offline. The same purchase includes the Apple Watch app, which is what ScrollChess was made for first: there, the Digital Crown aims and a tap anywhere confirms.
